Inaugural Kapunda Breed Show
Run by the: Kapunda & Light Agricultural Show
11th October 2009, Kapunda, SA
The Kapunda and Light
Agricultural Society has an already
hectic 2 1/2 day Equine Events
program at their annual show, so
the addition of a Breed Show was
made easier by running it a couple
of weeks prior to the actual Ag
Show!  They did a fantastic job!
Above Right:  Kath Hurrell and her lovely Lyndsworth were
awarded Champion Led Cleveland Bay Over 3 years, and then
Supreme Led Cleveland Bay, with Nikki Hurrell and Pine Country
Reznor receiving Reserve Champion Led Cleveland Bay Over 3
years.
Above: Kath and Lyndsworth.
Right: Nikki taking long strides to trot "Norman" out.
Above: Billara Beersheba - Owned and exhibited by CM
Sporthorses - who had travelled 8 hours to get to the
showgrounds the day prior.
Right: CM Killarnie Ceilidh - owned
by CM Sporthorses and Exhibited by Ally Sargent, only
competed in one class as she was a little sore after having
scrambled in the float on the way down.
Left and Right:  Lyndsworth.
1st in the Cleveland Bay
Gelding Over 3 years class,
and Best Presented Cleveland
Bay.
 Below: CM Killarnie
Ceilidh and Ally - Ally is new to
Cleveland Bays and has a
mare being served by Billara
Beersheba at the moment, so
give her about 18 months, and
she will be out with her own!
While Ceilidh did not
compete in the
Cleveland Bay
Classes, she stood
on the sidelines
watching all that was
going on.
She presented for
the first CB class,
however it was then
that she was
discovered to be a
little off, so pulled
out of the rest of the
classes in that ring.
Kath and Nikki, once
again, had their
horses impeccably
turned out and should
be commended on
their efforts.
Billara Beersheba
looked lovely in his
roller and side reins -
traditional 'dress' for
CB Stallions to be
shown in.  Bill is a little
lighter than he should
be - however he is
currently serving
mares full time.
Above Left: Craig Coburn with Billara Beersheba
Above Right: Ally Sargent with CM Killarnie Ceilidh in
the one class she was ok to compete in (after lunch).
Left: Kath Hurrell and Lyndsworth on their way to
the ring for the ridden Cleveland Bay Classes.
Right: Nikki Chadburn with a huge grin on her face
on her way to the ring for the ridden CB classes.
Below: Nikki and Pine Country Reznor strutting their
stuff in the Ridden Cleveland Bay Gelding class.
Above Right: Lyndsworth and Kath Hurrell being sashed with 1st place in the Ridden Cleveland Bay Gelding class, and going on to be Champion
Ridden Cleveland Bay.
Above Centre and Right: Pine Country Reznor and Nikki Chadburn - 1st place in the Hunter Under Saddle Cleveland Bay
Gelding, and Champion Hunter Under Saddle.
Above: CM Killarnie Ceilidh in the one class she competed in - Mare
3 yrs and over Any Registered Breed, receiving a second place to a
rather lovely Chestnut mare.
Right: Billara Beersheba in the lineup for Champion Any Registered
Breed.  The exquisite grey galloway sized gelding at the end of the
lineup received this award and was completely deserving of it!
Above: Nikki on "Norman" (Pine Country Reznor) in the
Cleveland Bay Hunter Class.
Right and Above Far Right: Kath on "Josh" (Lyndsworth).
Below Far Right: Billara Beersheba showing off his lovely
bridle - this bridle, side reins and roller came from the UK,
purchased from Janet Spencer, and were previously worn by
Borderfame Prince Charming when he was competing.
A huge thankyou must go to Jaqui Bridge and the organisers of the Inaugural Kapunda Breed Show - it was
fantastic to have the opportunity to show off the Cleveland Bays.  We look forward to being back again next year
and with greater numbers of Clevelands to exhibit!  There are a few people 'out' this year on the SA show circuit
(Cleveland Bay wise) due to injury to themselves, family or their horses.
